National Nursing Home Week: Western Day

National Nursing Home week was a huge success this year! The American Healthcare Association established a week of celebration for long-term care facilities way back in 1967. It is a great opportunity for everyone in the facility to brainstorm and come up with great new ways to celebrate. The Resident Council determined what our facility’s theme was going to be this year–instead of having a week long theme, we had a new one every day!

National Nursing Home week got started off in the Wild West. Everyone in the facility was encouraged to dress the Western part. Residents and stakeholders congregated for chips and salsa and socialization. We sang along to some classic country tunes, we reminisced about the good ol’ days, and played a few tough rounds of hangman! All and all, we had a rootin’, tootin’ good time!
